Kindermusik with Kathy’s own director and Maestro Educator Kathy Hayden is embarking on a new journey with her organization Global Arts Outreach. Kathy has been serving the children of Santa Barbara for many years as an Elementary school teacher, former owner of Gymboree, and for the past 12 years, Kindermusik with Kathy.
After raising two daughters of her own and recently sending them off to college and into their own lives, Kathy is able to redirect and expand her life’s work. Kathy says, “I began to envision a greater project that would take, music, joy, laughter and love where it was most needed. I know there are so many children out there in need of this, and this is what I know, this is what I love to do and what I am meant to do.”

Kathy’s passion to love and empower children with music, movement and art has led her to the first project of Global Arts Outreach: India’s Children. Starting at an orphanage in a remote village in the Himalayas Kathy will bring her talents to an English speaking school/orphanage run by an American doctor who had much the same vision and who created the rural outreach project Ramana's Garden (see sayyesnow.org). The orphanage has about 55 children in residence while the school at Ramana’s Garden has about 150 students consisting of the residents and the children from the surrounding villages.
Kathy leaves for three months starting Octorber 6th to begin teaching school in the mornings and enriching the children in the afternoons with music. On the weekends she will be going out into the villages and volunteering directly with woman and children with various needs.
Kathy will be traveling alone on this maiden voyage but is hoping that this will be the first of many projects in a collaborative effort to train staff, distribute lessons, instruments and materials wherever there are children that can be strengthened through the joy of music, art and creative self expression which can create hope, a sense of self and a life purpose for them.
Please donate!! The goal now is to raise funds for the children who have basic needs of underwear and socks, as well as, instruments and materials at the school. A PayPal donation button has been set up. All funds raised will be used to directly benefit the children of Ramana’s Garden. The good news is that a little money goes a long way. Kathy will be paying her own expenses and the additional funds will be spent in India benefiting the local population.
Anyone familiar with Kathy’s local programs will know that she has been a generous supporter of many organizations by donating her time and talents and has always found ways for people in need to attend her classes in SB. Global Arts Outreach: India’s Children will be an extension of what Kathy Hayden has already been contributing to the well being of our own children for over 20 years.
