GUITAR & SONGWRITING – LET’S PLAY, WRITE and SING TOGETHER!! (June 13-16): Would you like to learn beginning guitar in a week? (intermediate players welcomed also)  Join Emily and “Rock Star Rita” on an adventure across the fretboard into the wonderful world of music making. In this camp you will learn how to play and sing a few simple tunes on the guitar as well as some fun rock riffs.  You will be introduced to three different strumming patterns as well as how to zipline across the fretboard, cool bends and hammer-ons and offs.  If you are a return student, you will be learning how to play some simple lead guitar to accompany the songs and if you feel comfortable with the regular chords will be learning bar chords and other voice-ings.

They will learn basic tools such as essential chords and basic rhythm and note reading. In addition they will rappel down the strings of the guitar as they discover fun rock riffs and zipline across the fretboard with slides, bends and improvisation

Also in this musical songwriting camp, music and vocal teacher, Emily Yurcheshen, and writer of her own Song writing book, will be exploring the vast world of Writing, Singing and Playing Music! See how writing your own song can be easy, fun and creative through fun games, movement, imaginative play, and drum-percussion ensemble work.

SING A MUSICAL! (Beauty & The Beast in June 19-22 and Moana in July 24-27): Come Sing A Musical Story…And sing a few familiar songs and Disney tunes! Children can more easily learn and practice singing on pitch when their repertoire includes songs that have a limited range, common rhythmic and melodic patterns, and are written in the pentatonic scale. We begin camp with the joyful journey of learning to sing with the fundamental interval, sol-mi…then adding on to sol-la-mi, etc. Successful experiences lead to confidence…and confidence leads to more singing!

Camp inspired by the expert guidance of Vocal, Piano and Kindermusik Teachers, Sapna Shah and Leana Movillion.  Using the creative and imagination of the students together, they sing songs and play instruments also! An energetic camp for your child to harness their vocal power and simple acting skills.

Art is a part of this camp to make props for our Musical

PIANO: THE KEYS TO SUCCESS & FUN! (afternoon camp June 19-22): Come learn how to play the piano with PianoTeacher Sapna in this camp…Open to beginning and intermediate players! a FUN & SUCCESSFUL approach to learning the keys of piano, that includes piano playing, music theory, and music and singing games! All students will learn how to read music and apply it to the keyboard. There will also be improvisation and some composition to open the creative mind to piano playing! Come join Sapan in this fun-filled camp and become the musician you aspire to be!

CANTEMOS!- SPANISH (June 26-29What better way to learn than through this cultural-musical learning experience with singing, instruments, stories, music, dance and creative movement in a musical playful way! What a great idea – learn two languages while you’re at it, the language of Music and Spanish! Immerse your child in the sounds, language and music of North, South and Central American cultures!

And of course, we’ll still get out The Favorites and the usual mix of Kindermusik’s exceptional music and creative movement activities together with special Latin songs with Teachers Jackie Pelaez and Emily Yurcheshen

DRUMS, DRUMS (& DANCE TOO!) w/ AFRICAN & NATIVE ANERICAN RHYTHMS (July 3-7, no camp on 4th): Learn beginning djembe and other drums with the rhythms, song and chants of Africa with Teacher Kathy and Lisa Beck. African folk dances and stories of the famous Anansi, the Spider – are all part of this week!

Then join the Pow Pow and beat on our gathering drums!! In camp we’ll explore the rhythms, dances and sounds of Native American music. As we investigate, compare, and contrast a wide variety of drums, your camper develops the investigative vocabulary needed in the sciences. When you repeat rhythm patterns at home, your child gets an early start in math, too.

TELL ME A TALE (July 10-13): For centuries and all around the world, children have loved to snuggle, laugh, sing and hear their old classic tales told again and again, never tiring of them! TELL ME A TALE and Teacher Kathy keeps these literary traditions alive, bringing literature to life through music, drumming, dance, art, singing, and providing a rich all-around learning experience your child will not forget. We take your child on a musical trip to Malaysia, India, Africa, Europe, and N. America…Through this storytelling camp, your child steps into the delightful world of folktales from each country (and that culture’s music) by singing, exploring ensemble development, dancing, playing games and helping them develop a better sense of rhythmic awareness, focused listening, and drama skills. Each day we explore a new country.

ALL KEYED UP! (afternoon camp July 10-13): Dancing Fingers, Hands and Bodies will love this week with introduction to piano and hearing music by the well-known composer, J.S. Bach. The answer is right at the tip of your fingers! The same fine motor skills, brain-gym wiring and hand-eye coordination are all fun and essential elements for your future young and budding musician!! Camp is for first-time beginning piano players with Teacher Kathy. Movement, drums, percussions and games a fun  part of the camp too!

SING, STRUM & FUN w/ UKULELE (July 17-20): Learn Ukulele this week! An easy, simple and accessible string instrument for all….Come drift away to a beautiful Hawaiian paradise and other cultures and songs with creative and fun Ukulele and Songwriting teacher, Emily Yurcheshen and Kindermusik Spanish and Ukulele teacher Jackie Pelaez. In this camp we will learn the basics of the Ukulele and a handful of songs on this fun instrument. We will also engage in group ensembles, folk culutural dances and learn about the history of the Ukulele.
